An Ubersuggest alternative is a tool, free or paid, that does the same job as Neil Patel's: keyword ideas with volumes and difficulty, rank tracking, site audits, competitors' backlinks. Ubersuggest currently costs $29 to $99 a month (about £21.93 to £74.85) across three plans, with a 7-day free trial, and the entry plan covers a single project and 125 tracked keywords (official price list, checked in October 2026).
On Google UK, for this search, you get a list of ten tools from MADX Digital updated in April 2026, an Ubersuggest page, threads on Reddit and Quora, a six-year-old Pinterest pin, a 2022 review, and then pages written by competing vendors that put themselves first: Keywords Everywhere and RankAI. None of them says how big Ubersuggest's database is for the UK compared with the others, or how often people in the UK search for it. Here you'll find both, plus the alternatives split by budget, with prices read on the official pages. If the tool you're leaving is Semrush, see our article on Semrush alternatives.
What you're buying when you buy Ubersuggest
Ubersuggest started as a search suggestion generator and became an SEO suite after it passed to Neil Patel. Today it belongs to NP Digital, Patel's agency, which on the Ubersuggest page claims a "100 million keyword database" and says it is "trusted by over 250,000 users" (Ubersuggest page).
These are the limits of the cheapest plan:
| Feature | $29 a month plan |
|---|---|
| Projects (brands) | 1 |
| Tracked keywords | 125 per project |
| Reports per day | 150 |
| Audit pages | 1,000 a week |
| Backlinks visible | 2,000 |
| Prompts tracked on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews | 10 per brand |
Two details in the price list matter more than the price. The lifetime licences, which the Ubersuggest page promotes as "pay once and have full access, with updates, for life", are final and non-refundable according to the price list, while the 7-day trial applies only to monthly subscriptions and can be used once. The second concerns using it without a subscription: the price list doesn't say how many searches a day you get, and third-party sources don't agree (DinoRANK says three a day, ChatSEO says the permanent free plan no longer exists). Before you build any work on it, try it with your own account.
How often Ubersuggest is searched for in the UK
We pulled monthly Google searches in the UK for Ubersuggest and for three suites it's often compared with, Semrush, Ahrefs and SE Ranking, from September 2025 to August 2026.
| Month | Ubersuggest | Semrush | SE Ranking | Ahrefs | Ubersuggest as a share of Semrush |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sep 2025 | 8,100 | 33,100 | 12,100 | 22,200 | 24.5% |
| Oct 2025 | 8,100 | 33,100 | 5,400 | 22,200 | 24.5% |
| Nov 2025 | 6,600 | 33,100 | 4,400 | 18,100 | 19.9% |
| Dec 2025 | 5,400 | 22,200 | 3,600 | 12,100 | 24.3% |
| Jan 2026 | 8,100 | 33,100 | 5,400 | 18,100 | 24.5% |
| Feb 2026 | 6,600 | 27,100 | 4,400 | 18,100 | 24.4% |
| Mar 2026 | 6,600 | 40,500 | 4,400 | 22,200 | 16.3% |
| Apr 2026 | 6,600 | 33,100 | 3,600 | 18,100 | 19.9% |
| May 2026 | 5,400 | 27,100 | 3,600 | 18,100 | 19.9% |
| Jun 2026 | 5,400 | 27,100 | 3,600 | 18,100 | 19.9% |
| Jul 2026 | 4,400 | 27,100 | 3,600 | 14,800 | 16.2% |
| Aug 2026 | 3,600 | 22,200 | 3,600 | 14,800 | 16.2% |
Ubersuggest went from 8,100 searches in September 2025 to 3,600 in August 2026, 56% fewer. Over the same period Semrush and Ahrefs fell by a third, from 33,100 to 22,200 and from 22,200 to 14,800. So in the UK the drop isn't just the whole category slowing down for the summer: Ubersuggest is losing ground of its own. Compared with Semrush it was worth 23.6% of searches between September 2025 and February 2026, and 18.1% between March and August 2026.
Two more numbers. In the UK Ahrefs is searched for more than Ubersuggest every month of the year, with an average of 18,075 searches a month against 6,242, almost three times as many. And people who search for Ubersuggest mostly want not to pay: "ubersuggest free" gets 40 searches a month, "ubersuggest alternatives" 10. People who switch tools usually search for the new one by name.
Why people leave Ubersuggest: the limits you can measure
The database
The 100 million keywords claimed are the total for every country, and Ubersuggest doesn't publish how many are from the UK. Ahrefs states 1.4 billion for the UK alone, out of 29 billion in total (Ahrefs data page). SE Ranking states 769 million for the UK, out of 5.5 billion (SE Ranking data page; the FAQ on the same page says 755 million). These are vendors' figures, not certified by third parties, and a bigger archive doesn't mean more accurate estimates.
To find out whether Ubersuggest covers your sector, there's a test that takes ten minutes. Take the five queries that bring you the most clicks in Google Search Console and look them up in Ubersuggest. If two or three come back with no volume or don't appear, the database can't see your niche, and no extra feature makes up for that.
The entry plan
One project and 125 tracked keywords are enough for one site. If you look after two clients, or a site in several languages, you have to move to a higher plan or buy $5 packs. At $99 a month, the price of the top plan, you're $30 away from Ahrefs Lite ($129, about £97.54, with 5 projects and 750 tracked keywords) and from SE Ranking Core ($129, 10 projects and 2,000 keywords).
AnswerThePublic isn't an alternative
Plenty of lists include AnswerThePublic among the alternatives. Since 2022 it has belonged to NP Digital, the same company as Ubersuggest, as Neil Patel's blog says, and it does a different job: it collects the questions people ask around a keyword. Moving from one to the other means changing tool, not supplier. We've compared the real alternatives in our article on AnswerThePublic alternatives.
The free alternatives
Four free tools cover a good part of what the $29 plan does. Only one thing is missing: competitor data.
- Google Search Console: queries, clicks, impressions and average position for your own site. This is Google's data, not an estimate, a few days behind. For your own domain it replaces rank tracking.
- Google Ads Keyword Planner: keyword volumes and ideas. Without active campaigns it shows volume ranges instead of exact numbers; in our guide on how to use Google Keyword Planner we explain how to read them.
- Ahrefs Webmaster Tools: for sites whose ownership you verify, audits with 5,000 crawl credits a month per project and up to 1,000 backlinks and 1,000 keywords visible at a time (official page). It replaces Ubersuggest's audit and backlinks, but only for your own site.
- Keyword Tool: suggestions in every language, usable without paying. Volumes are in the paid Pro version. On its comparison page it claims on average twice as many suggestions as Ubersuggest for every keyword: that's the vendor's own figure.
For a topic's seasonality, Google Trends is enough, and in the UK it gets an average of 90,500 searches a month, more than Semrush, Ahrefs, Ubersuggest and SE Ranking put together. The full list of free SEO tools is in a separate article.
The low-cost paid alternatives
Answer Socrates, if you only use Ubersuggest for ideas
It has a free plan with 3 searches a day. Socrates Lite costs $19 a month (about £14.37), or $190 a year, and gives 1,200 searches a year with volume, CPC and competition across 2 projects; every paid plan has a 7-day money-back guarantee (Answer Socrates pricing). In the UK it gets 260 searches a month. A note: on Google.it the ranking of Ubersuggest alternatives that shows up is written by Answer Socrates and puts Answer Socrates first; on Google UK the same role is played by Keywords Everywhere and RankAI.
Mangools, if you want a simple interface
Mangools, which includes KWFinder, starts at $37.70 a month (about £28.50) and has a free account with reduced features that doesn't ask for a card (Mangools page). It's designed for blogs and small sites. In the UK it's searched for 590 times a month as a brand, 260 for KWFinder.
Serpstat, the cheapest basic suite
The Individual plan costs $50 a month (about £37.80) with 5 projects. The trial lasts 7 days and puts a $1 hold on your card, returned within minutes (Serpstat pricing). It has keyword research, rank tracking and audits, the same areas as Ubersuggest.
Screaming Frog, for audits priced in pounds
It's a British crawler, made in Henley-on-Thames, and one of the few tools in this list with a sterling price. The SEO Spider is free up to 500 URLs; the licence costs £199 a year per user, a price that hasn't changed since January 2023 (Screaming Frog FAQ). It doesn't do keyword research or rank tracking: it replaces Ubersuggest's site audit, with no cap on pages. In the UK it gets 5,400 searches a month, close to Ubersuggest's 6,600: for anyone who used Ubersuggest mainly for the technical audit, it's the most natural switch.
When Ubersuggest feels tight: SE Ranking and Ahrefs
SE Ranking Core costs $129 a month (about £97.54), $103.20 with annual billing, and includes 10 projects, 2,000 keywords tracked daily and 100 AI prompts. The trial lasts 14 days and doesn't ask for a card (SE Ranking pricing). For $30 a month more than Ubersuggest's top plan you get a declared UK database and wider prompt tracking. How tools of this kind compare is covered in our article on AI visibility tools.
Ahrefs Lite costs $129 a month (about £97.54) for 5 projects and 750 tracked keywords (Ahrefs pricing). Its strength compared with Ubersuggest is competitors' backlinks, which matter if you do link building. The head-to-head comparison is in Ubersuggest vs Ahrefs; the one with Semrush in Ubersuggest vs Semrush. Ahrefs' costs plan by plan are in our guide to Ahrefs pricing.
The comparison in one table
| Tool | Entry price | What it replaces in Ubersuggest | UK keywords stated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ubersuggest | $29 a month | benchmark | not published (100 million in total) |
| Google Search Console | no cost | your site's rankings and clicks | Google's real data |
| Google Ads Keyword Planner | no cost | keyword volumes and ideas | Google's data |
| Ahrefs Webmaster Tools | no cost | your site's audit and backlinks | not applicable |
| Keyword Tool | no cost (volumes paid) | keyword ideas | not published |
| Answer Socrates Lite | $19 a month ($15.83 annual) | ideas and questions with volumes | not published |
| Mangools | from $37.70 a month | keyword research | not published |
| Serpstat Individual | $50 a month | basic suite | not published |
| Screaming Frog | £199 a year (no cost up to 500 URLs) | site audit | not applicable |
| SE Ranking Core | $129 ($103.20 annual) | full suite and AI prompts | 769 million |
| Ahrefs Lite | $129 a month | full suite and backlinks | 1.4 billion |
What a year costs
The monthly price tells you little. These are the twelve-month totals from the price lists above, before VAT, with dollars converted at the Bank of England rate for 8 October 2026 ($1.3226 to the pound):
- Ubersuggest, entry plan: $348 (about £263) for 1 project and 125 keywords.
- Answer Socrates Lite: $190 (about £144), keyword and question research only.
- Screaming Frog: £199 for one user, technical audits only.
- SE Ranking Core: $1,238.40 (about £936) for 10 projects and 2,000 keywords.
- Search Console, Keyword Planner and Ahrefs Webmaster Tools: nothing, with no competitor data.
With a single site, Ubersuggest remains one of the cheapest options for a full suite. The sum changes as soon as there are two sites: there SE Ranking costs more than three times as much, but covers ten projects.
How to choose
The first test is the five Search Console keywords described above. If Ubersuggest finds them and one site is enough for you, switching tools saves little. If it doesn't, the alternative depends on what you use it for: for ideas alone, Keyword Planner and Answer Socrates are enough; for technical audits, Screaming Frog; for several sites or clients, SE Ranking; for competitors' backlinks, Ahrefs. The full comparison between suites is in our guide to keyword research tools.
In B2B niches with keywords of a few dozen searches a month, our projects run on suites with bigger databases: we measured the share of voice in the Macropix case, a project in Italy, at 25.55% on the LED wall cluster, ahead of Amazon, with Semrush. If you'd rather have someone else handle the tools and read the data, our SEO service includes access to the suites we use.
If you've already bought the Ubersuggest lifetime licence, you have no reason to drop it: the cost is sunk and won't come back, so keep it as a second opinion next to the new tool. The reasoning works the other way for anyone thinking of buying it now. A non-refundable one-off payment ties you to a supplier for years, and almost all the value of an SEO tool is in its database, which is also the part of Ubersuggest we know least about.
Frequently asked questions
Partly. You can run some searches without a subscription, but the official price list doesn't say how many a day and third-party sources disagree. For ongoing use you need a plan, from $29 a month, with a 7-day free trial on monthly subscriptions.
It depends on the job. For your own site, Google Search Console gives real rankings and clicks and Ahrefs Webmaster Tools gives audits and backlinks. For volumes and ideas there's Google Ads Keyword Planner. No free tool fully shows competitors' keywords.
It depends on the job. For technical audits Screaming Frog costs £199 a year per user, is free up to 500 URLs and has no page cap with a licence. Ubersuggest costs $29 a month and also covers keyword research and rank tracking, but its entry plan audits 1,000 pages a week.
No. Since 2022 it has belonged to NP Digital, the same company as Ubersuggest, and it does a different job: it collects the questions around a keyword. It doesn't replace rank tracking or audits.
Yes, but it doesn't say how much. The whole database is 100 million keywords according to the official page, across every country. Ahrefs states 1.4 billion for the UK alone and SE Ranking 769 million.
No. The official price list says lifetime licence purchases are final and non-refundable. The 7-day free trial applies only to monthly subscriptions.
