An SEO podcast is a series, audio or video, about ranking in search engines: Google updates, case studies, interviews and, for the past couple of years, AI search as well. In English there are dozens. Of those made in the UK, as of 10 October 2026, five are still publishing with some regularity.
We checked by finding each podcast in the Apple Podcasts directory, reading its RSS feed and noting the number of episodes and the dates of the first and latest. Below you'll find the full table, what to listen to from the UK, the four international podcasts we follow and some numbers on how many people in the UK listen to podcasts.
What Google UK shows when you search "seo podcast"
We pulled the first page of Google for "seo podcast" (location United Kingdom, English) on 10 October 2026. It opens with an AI Overview that answers the other meaning of the query, how to optimise your own podcast, citing Spotify for Creators. Of the 8 organic results, only one is a list of podcasts, Backlinko's. The rest are three shows' own pages (The SEO Mindset Podcast, The SEO Show from Australia and The Best SEO Podcast from the US, the last one twice, on Spotify and Apple Podcasts), a Reddit thread on SEO tips for podcasters and a podcast-hosting guide.
With the query "uk seo podcast" the first result is The SEO Mindset Podcast, a show about careers and wellbeing in SEO rather than technique. Its latest episode is from 1 October 2026.
Demand is small but steady: according to DataForSEO's Google Ads data, "seo podcast" averages 140 searches a month in the UK, peaking at 260 in September 2025 and 210 in February 2026. "best seo podcasts" adds another 40. People searching almost always want one thing: to know what to listen to.
The lists exist, but they age badly. We read three. One from a UK agency is dated August 2026, but the text says "it is 2020" and still recommends RankUp, which signed off in July 2022. Backlinko's, updated in January 2026, includes The SEO Rant, whose latest episode on Apple Podcasts is from August 2024. The third, "Best SEO Podcasts for 2025", is published by an Australian podcast and puts itself first.
UK SEO podcasts: the table
Data read on 10 October 2026 from each podcast's RSS feed. We count as UK-made a show produced by a UK company, published on a .co.uk domain or tagged en-GB in its feed. We consider a podcast active if it has published at least one episode in the last six months.
| Podcast | Who hosts it | Episodes | First episode | Latest episode | Status at 10 October 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Search with Candour | Jack Chambers-Ward (Candour, Norwich) | 381 | 15 March 2019 | 5 October 2026 | active, out every Monday |
| The Majestic SEO Podcast | David Bain (Majestic, Birmingham) | 112 | 23 January 2020 | 7 October 2026 | active, monthly |
| SEO F**king What | Nikki Pilkington | 45 | 16 October 2025 | 4 October 2026 | active, weekly |
| The SEO Mindset Podcast | Sarah McDowell and Tazmin Suleman | 137 | 29 March 2022 | 1 October 2026 | active, weekly |
| SEO Unfiltered | Genny Methot (Geeky Tech, Guildford) | 29 | 17 February 2022 | 23 September 2026 | active, every two months |
| SEO Is Not That Hard | Edd Dawson | 361 | 11 September 2023 | 1 December 2025 | stopped |
| TechSEO Podcast | Dan Taylor (SALT.agency) | 29 | 22 October 2019 | 7 February 2025 | stopped |
| RankUp | Ben Garry and Edd Wilson (Impression) | 39 | 12 March 2020 | 6 July 2022 | closed |
Two things stand out. First: of the eight podcasts, five are active, and the most recent of the stopped ones ended ten months ago. Second: none of the five active ones is about technical SEO. Candour mixes news and interviews, Majestic runs a panel debate, Pilkington talks to business owners, The SEO Mindset is about careers and wellbeing, and SEO Unfiltered has spent 2026 on AI visibility. The one technical show, TechSEO Podcast, stopped in February 2025.
Search with Candour, from Norwich
It's the most consistent UK SEO podcast we found. It's made by Candour, a search agency based in Norwich, and hosted by Jack Chambers-Ward; according to its feed it has 381 episodes since 15 March 2019, published every Monday.
The format alternates. Once a month there's a news roundup of around half an hour ("August 2026 SEO and AI News" came out on 7 September); the other weeks are interviews that can run past an hour. Mark Williams-Cook, Candour's director, co-presented episode 85, a preview of the SearchNorwichXL conference of 24 September 2026. The show's official page lists all the episodes.
It suits people who already work on websites and want a considered weekly update. Recent episodes spend a lot of time on AI Overviews and on what still works from traditional SEO in AI search.
The Majestic SEO Podcast with David Bain
The Majestic SEO Podcast is produced by Majestic, the Birmingham company behind the backlink index of the same name, and hosted by David Bain. With 112 episodes since January 2020 it's the longest-running monthly show on the list, and its format is different from the others: a panel of SEOs debating one question, plus the occasional one-to-one interview, as described on Apple Podcasts.
The rhythm in 2026 is steady: one episode in the first week of each month, from 44 to 55 minutes. The autumn episodes are among the more useful listening on GEO: "The State of AI in SEO (Part 3)" came out on 2 September and "Are you using AI the WRONG way in SEO?" on 7 October, while August's panel dealt with fake DMCA takedown requests.
If you'd rather read than listen, the written equivalent is a newsletter, and you'll find the ones we follow in our list of SEO newsletters. If you'd rather hear several opinions argued out than one host's view, this is the podcast.
SEO F**king What by Nikki Pilkington
Short episodes, from 12 to 16 minutes. Nikki Pilkington, an SEO consultant and copywriter, started the podcast on 16 October 2025 and has published every week since: 45 episodes on Apple Podcasts. The latest, of 4 October 2026, is called "Negative SEO Is Mostly a Con. Here's What Actually Hurts You".
The angle is closer to buying SEO than doing it: the show is aimed at owners of B2B websites who have been sold tactics that didn't work, with episodes like "Four Questions That Find Out If Your SEO Is Talking Boll*cks". We'd recommend it to people who run a business and don't do SEO for a living.
The UK podcasts that have stopped, and what's still worth hearing
A podcast that has stopped isn't useless, but you need to listen knowing the date. SEO in 2020 knew nothing of AI Overviews or ChatGPT answers with sources, and a lot of what was said then about penalties or ranking factors would need revisiting today.
SEO Is Not That Hard by Edd Dawson has 361 episodes and published several times a week until 1 December 2025 ("Update and December Plans"): 169 episodes in 2024 alone. It's the most recent to stop, and its last run, ten short episodes on link building in November 2025, works as a course in itself. If you're weighing up link building for a client, "Building versus Buying Backlinks" is a good place to start.
TechSEO Podcast, by Dan Taylor of SALT.agency, is the only UK show on technical SEO we found: 29 episodes, with season 5 launched after a two-year break and the latest episode published on 7 February 2025 ("Are we using SEO tools right?"). It works as a refresher on crawling and tooling, not as an update.
RankUp (39 episodes, March 2020 to July 2022) was the monthly podcast of Ben Garry and Edd Wilson, SEOs at the agency Impression, and it closed with an episode called "The Final Sign-Off". It was a commentary on the month's news, so today it's interesting as a record of what the industry was like, not much more. It still turns up in UK lists of podcasts to follow.
Two other UK programmes show up in searches, but we left them out of the table. People of Performance, by the agency Manchester SEO, has 90 episodes but its recent ones are about cycling academies, motorsport and charities rather than search. Beers and SEO, with Barry Adams and Steven Wilson-Beales, has only 9 episodes since December 2025, too few to judge. None of the UK shows covers local search regularly; if that's your topic, there's our guide to local SEO.
International SEO podcasts to follow
Outside the UK the choice is much wider. We've kept just four podcasts, all checked as active in September or early October 2026, chosen to cover four different needs.
| Podcast | Who hosts it | Frequency | Latest data checked | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Search Off the Record | Google's Search Relations team | not stated | 100 episodes since 2020; latest on sitemaps, 1 October 2026 | understanding how Google thinks |
| Crawling Mondays | Aleyda Solis | several episodes a month in 2026 | episode of 10 October 2026 | AI search and international SEO |
| Search Engine Journal Show | Loren Baker (Search Engine Journal) | irregular in 2026 | 370 episodes; latest 29 September 2026 | US industry news and interviews |
| Ahrefs Podcast | Tim Soulo | every 14 days | 66 episodes | marketing and growth, less technical |
Search Off the Record is the podcast of Google's Search Relations team, with Gary Illyes, Martin Splitt, John Mueller and Lizzi Sassman. It's the most direct way to hear the people who work on search talk openly about how Google treats, for example, sitemaps (the subject of the episode "Do sitemaps still matter?", out nine days before our check). Recent episodes also come in a transcribed version, published as a separate episode: if you'd rather read than listen, start there.
Crawling Mondays is the channel of Aleyda Solis, an international SEO consultant and founder of the agency Orainti. It started as a YouTube series and is also distributed as a podcast; in 2026 almost every episode is about measuring and optimising visibility in AI search, the latest being "How to Coordinate AI Search Optimization Across Marketing Teams".
The Search Engine Journal Show is the official podcast of the US trade publication, hosted by Loren Baker, with 370 episodes since 2014. In 2026 it comes out irregularly (13 July, 3 August, 29 September), mixing interviews with industry news.
The Ahrefs Podcast with Tim Soulo, Ahrefs' CMO, is less technical: long conversations, from 42 to 73 minutes in recent episodes, with founders and marketing leads. According to its feed it has 66 episodes and comes out every two weeks.
How many people in the UK listen to podcasts
The audience is there. According to Ofcom, which published its figures for International Podcast Day on 30 September 2026 drawing on its Media Nations 2026 research, 39% of UK adults listen to a podcast every month, up from 18% in 2019, and 43% if you include video podcasts. 27% listen every week, 29% of men and 24% of women.
The same Ofcom release measures how the format is changing. Podcasts' share of listening time has gone from 5% in 2022 to 11% in 2026, and 68% of listeners say they listen to podcasts that also have video. The phone is the main device for 64% of them. Among weekly listeners, the most popular genres are news and current affairs (47%), entertainment (44%) and comedy (41%).
For comparison, in the United States Edison Research's Infinite Dial 2026 counts 58% of the population aged 12 and over as having listened to or watched a podcast in the last month, 167 million people. The sample is American and the method differs from Ofcom's, so the two percentages can't be compared directly: what they do say is that the habit is widespread in both markets, while the specialist SEO offer is much bigger in the US than in the UK.
If you were looking for SEO for your podcast
Some of the results for "seo podcast" are about the other meaning, how to get your own podcast found, and on Google UK it's the meaning the AI Overview picks. The most concrete guidance we found comes from Spotify for Creators, that is, from the platform itself.
- A podcast title of 3-4 words, with a term someone would actually search for, and no special characters.
- The first 250 characters of the description are what's visible in the app before the text is expanded: that's where the sentence explaining what you talk about goes.
- Episode titles written the way people search. Spotify cites a podcast that names its episodes after real questions, along the lines of "am I too old to have acne?".
- Descriptions in full sentences, not lists of keywords.
Outside the apps, the most reliable thing is text: a page per episode with a transcript and a summary is the simplest way to be found in web search too, and it's what Google itself does with Search Off the Record. If the podcast is also on video, what we've written about YouTube SEO and video SEO applies.
How to choose what to listen to
The first check is the date of the latest episode. On Apple Podcasts, episodes from the current year show only the day and month, those from previous years show the year too: if you see a year next to the most recent date, the podcast has been quiet for at least a few months.
The second is the balance between news and method. A news podcast goes out of date in weeks, a method podcast in years. If you're learning, start from our beginner's guide to SEO and use podcasts to keep up; if your goal is to become an SEO specialist, Search Off the Record and Crawling Mondays are worth more than any summary.
The third is the format you'll actually use. Podcasts are for listening on the move, SEO blogs and newsletters are for looking things up. To keep up with the industry without spending too much time on it, one podcast, one newsletter and one blog are enough.
FAQs
It depends on what you need. For a weekly SEO update there's Search with Candour, 381 episodes since March 2019, out every Monday. For hearing several views argued out, the monthly Majestic SEO Podcast with David Bain, 112 episodes since January 2020. If you run a business rather than do SEO, SEO F**king What by Nikki Pilkington.
Yes. As of 10 October 2026 we checked five UK shows with at least one episode in the last six months: Search with Candour, The Majestic SEO Podcast, SEO F**king What, The SEO Mindset Podcast and SEO Unfiltered. Three others have stopped, the most recent since 1 December 2025.
Yes. It's called Search Off the Record and it's hosted by Google's Search Relations team, including Gary Illyes, Martin Splitt and John Mueller. It has 100 episodes since 2020, and recent episodes are also published in a transcribed version.
It depends on when you have time. A podcast is something you listen to while doing something else, in the car or walking; a newsletter you read, save and find again. The UK offer is small in both formats, so it's worth adding at least one international source.
Look at the date of the latest episode. On Apple Podcasts, episodes from the current year show only the day and month: if the most recent one also shows a year, the podcast hasn't published since at least the previous year.
One last observation. The first UK result Google shows to someone searching "uk seo podcast" is a podcast about careers in SEO, the only UK show on technical SEO stopped in February 2025, and the two UK programmes with a large, still active archive are made by an agency and a software company. Ofcom counts 27% of adults listening every week, and Google UK shows no UK list among the results for "seo podcast": in a niche this thin, even a business that isn't an SEO agency, but knows search in its own sector well, could take the space with a dozen episodes a year. It's the same reasoning we apply to digital PR and to our work on SEO for AI search: you win citations where the competition hasn't arrived yet.
